Some random faces
Desde chico me gustó dibujar. Nunca fui bueno.
Since I was a kid, I’ve liked to draw. I was never good at it. But I keep trying.
Back then, the computer had become my paper and pencil. I did almost everything there. So I started drawing the way I drew everything else: in vectors. Testing a technique I hadn't mastered, to portray people I wasn't sure would stay either.
These are faces of people I had close to me for a year. People I shared something with at that moment. I drew them one by one, using lines, dots, curves. The cleanest and coldest way to draw someone.
Time passed. Some of those people stopped being friends. They drifted away, disappeared, became strangers with familiar faces. Others are still here. When I made the drawings, I didn't know which would be which. Nobody ever knows.
Vectors have that exact same quality. It’s an image without matter. Pure equation, points that can be moved, erased, or stretched without leaving a mark. A face made of vectors can be undone in a second, leaving no trace behind. Just like a bond. It seems solid, but in reality, it’s a set of coordinates that hold together only as long as they hold together.
That is the message beneath the faces. They aren't carved in stone. They are drawn in the most editable medium that exists. Just like the people who pass through your life. Present, sharp, and just one click away from disappearing.
I’m still not good at drawing. But I wanted to leave a record of who was close, knowing that the record, just like them, was also temporary.
Some Random Faces.
