One day I gave myself a single rule. Write for one minute without thinking. Whatever came out, came out.
No idea beforehand, no concept, no clue where it was going. I would open my head and let whatever was passing through fall onto the page. Then I would record the video and post it. No spelling fixes. No grammar fixes. No editing. If there was a mistake, the mistake stayed. That was the whole point.
I come from a world where everything has to have a reason, where every word gets thought through ten times before it is allowed out. This was the opposite. Vomit. Impulse. A bit of homemade dada. Letting go of control to see what was left.
This was left. Love stories ending, goodbyes, time making you harder, the wish to be who you used to be, the exhaustion of words. Things I did not know were so close to the surface until I forced myself not to think them.
The last video is Bluebird, by Charles Bukowski, over Damien Hirst's spinning diamond skull. The poem because it says better than I can the thing we almost never let out, the soft part we hide to keep going. The skull because in the end it all finishes the same way, whether we like it or not.
It is my way of saying that everything is connected. That we can do it well, we can do it badly, or we can simply do it. After all, a minute is not much. Not in art, not in life, not in the universe.
